OUR HERITAGE AT RISK PROGRAM 2009

The National Top Ten Our Heritage at Risk 2009 will be announced on October 24th 2009. This Top Ten has been selected from the most at risk heritage nominated to each State or Territory National Trust.

Earlier this year, each State and Territory National Trust released its Our heritage at Risk lists. Each State and Territory Trust also reported on 2008 Heritage at Risk places. To see the full State and Territory Our Heritage at Risk lists for 2007 and 2008 or find out more about the program visit www.heritageatrisk.org.au.

Heritage at Risk is a collaborative advocacy program managed by the State and Territory National Trusts and coordinated by the ACNT in conjunction with heritage partners. The program was developed from the previous Endangered Places program.

The National Trusts of Australia work with the heritage community, including our 2009 partners,  Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) http://www.architecture.com.au/, and the Australian Historical Association (AHA), http://www.theaha.org.au/, to promote the program in order to raise public awareness of heritage issues and bring these to the attention of governments and other authorities so that appropriate solutions can be found.

Our Heritage at Risk program has been running since 2007 and replaced the successful Endangered Places [MT1] program run until 2004. The new program is more comprehensive of heritage in that it is not restricted to places or tangible heritage at risk.

Nominations for the 2010 program will be called for soon.  See www.heritageatrisk.org.au for details of the nomination process and for the National Top Ten Our Heritage at Risk for this and previous years.
